Audrey Lyall is an interdisciplinary artist from Corte Madera, CA currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. Lyall attended Pratt Institute where she began studying Fashion Design and ultimately received her BFA in Critical & Visual Studies, minoring in Museum & Gallery Practices. She draws directly from her background in fashion illustration, critical theory, and philosophy to create her own artistic language enveloped in afro-futurist maximalism. Lyall uses a plethora of materials such as found objects, hair and makeup products, fabric, decorative paper, and magazines. Through combining these items with traditional art materials, Lyall renders grandiose figures amongst dreamy abstracted settings. Her works explore self discovery in the midst of dissociation and disillusionment from reality. Within each of her exhibitions, Lyall hones in on specific topics including beauty standards, celebrity culture, and surveillance. Lyall has exhibited work with Superposition Gallery, Good Black Art, 1-54 Art Fair, New Image Art, and more.
